There’s a large factory near the place I live. While still the largest source of employment in the area it’s been on the decline for years now. It makes mostly all kinds of plastic materials, but some of its sections produces explosives as well. The factory occupies a large area located near the forest and in the forest itself. I always thought that the combination of the summer’s succulent greenness and the factory’s miles and miles of grim barbed wire fences create a quite disturbing scenery.
I approached the main building at noon and twice in the evening to discover that the factory’s near-and-distant mechanical hums and bangs together with the natural sounds form a unique aural experience.
